David R. Pitcher, 62, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at his home in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: noon to 2 p.m. on the day of the service.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Anne; son, Ryan (Adrian) Pitcher; daughters, Destiny Hastings, Cori (Richard Kahle) Pitcher and Jamie (Tomi) Pitcher; father, G. James Pitcher; brothers, Jim (Shirley) Pitcher and Rob (Sue) Pitcher; sister, Arlene (Jack) Wolfe; and nine grandchildren.
Born to G. James and Margaret (Kelliher) Pitcher on Jan. 8, 1954, David loved to dance. With partner Anne, he was the first on the floor and the last to leave. He was a 32nd degree Mason and worked many years for the Cedar Rapids school district. David loved playing games, especially Scrabble, with his family. To his family he was known to be Mr. Cool with a sarcastic, yet sensitive side that showed because he was always there when you needed him.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Peg; and brother, Rick Pitcher.
Memorials may be directed to Last Hope Animal Rescue or American Cancer Society.
