David Lawrence Lubbock, 76, passed away at his home in Shellsburg on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at the Oak Grove Church in rural Shellsburg with Pastor Matt Magee officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at the church following the service on Sunday.
David was born on July 8, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Lawrence and Dorothy (Bridge) Lubbock. He graduated from Shellsburg High School with the Class of 1965. He married Shirley King in Shellsburg, and the couple later divorced. On April 23, 2005, he married April Winch in Shellsburg.
David farmed and operated Lubbock Livestock Hauling for many years. He also worked as a mechanic at CRST and Westside Transport. In retirement he enjoyed scrapping iron, and building things, especially models, and was an avid model railroader. His greatest pastime was teasing his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife April; eight children, Staci Lubbock, Stephanie (Michael Nelson) Lubbock, all of Vinton, Justin Lubbock, Rockford (Stacy) Lubbock, all of Shellsburg, Ryan Lubbock of Cedar Rapids, Katherine (Chris) Jordan of Fairfax, Spencer Lubbock of Cedar Rapids, Sara Lubbock of Palo; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; his sister Theresa (Butch) Whitehurst of Garner; and brother Paul (Di) Lubbock of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
