David Laverne Soden, 77, of Marion, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, and was united with his wife Susan again. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Entombment: Private at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Family request casual dress for services.
Survivors include his son, Jesse (Tami) Soden of Marion, Iowa his sister, Susan (Jeff) Evans of Washington, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Gloria Nielson and Marilyn Mulbrook, both of Marion, Iowa; his grandchildren, McKenzie (Trask) White, Maddison (Michael) Ebeling and Mason Soden; and great-grandchildren, Jase, Halstyn and Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Soden; his parents; and sister, Nancy L. Soden.
David was born on Aug. 21, 1945, in Urbana, Iowa, the son of Harold and Dora (Denison) Soden. He married Susan Kay Mulbrook on June 7, 1969, in Linn County, Iowa. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy and later received a medical discharge after basic training. He was employed at Cedarapids Inc. (Iowa Manufacturing) from 1967-1985 and retired from Barnes Mfg. in 2001 after 16 years of service. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending summers on the reservoir. After retirement, he enjoyed doing odd jobs for friends. His greatest time was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
