David H. Rollie, 80, of Tyler, Texas, died Wednesday, June 20, 2018, after a short illness.
Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 11 a.m.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Margaret Rollie; an older sister, Joyce Kellner; a younger sister, Susan Santarell; and his first wife, Johanna Christopherson.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Tjepkes); daughter, Lynn Rollie; son, Jeffrey Rollie; grandson, Robert Mashek; step-daughter, Brandi (Jeff) Daves; and two step-grandchildren, Seth Felsted and Reiny Felsted.
He was born on April 8, 1938, in Rochester, Minn. He joined the Navy in 1953. On April 11, 1964, he married his first wife, Johanna (Christopherson). After retiring from the Navy in 1976, he moved to Cedar Rapids and worked for the United States Post Office, starting in 1977 and retiring in 1995. He married his second wife on Nov. 26, 1988. David moved to Tyler, Texas, in 2013.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed refinishing furniture and fixing things. He was very proud of his volunteer work of driving the van for the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans).
