DAVID FOLEY
Cedar Rapids
David Wayne Foley, 59, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Hopkinton, born July 3. 1962, died Aug. 21, 2021, after a recent diagnosis of lung cancer.
Son of Ron and Mary Foley, he was raised in Hopkinton and spent his adult years between Cedar Rapids and California. He graduated from Prairie High School and then married Pat Nejedly and had a daughter, Julia.
Dave served proudly in the National Guard from 1981 to 1990, when he was honorably discharged. Dave was a master Craftsman, always ready and willing to lend a hand, "jack of all trades - master of some!" He had been a proud member of the Cahill racing team for many years. He was unique in so many ways, nicknamed "Bush man and Gravy Dave." He loved fishing, playing cards, spending time with family and carpentry.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ron; and his wife, Pat.
He is survived by his mother, Mary; longtime companion, Fran Mounts; his daughter, Julia (Robert) Murray; grandson, Dallas; granddaughters, Alectra and Kyra; and his seven siblings, Debbie (Chuck) Sauerbier, Diane Foley Stevenson, Dannette (Henry) Trinidad, Dienielda Foley, Daniel (Terese) Foley, Donnie Foley and DeLinda (Anthony) Mull; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He will be missed by all of us. Please join us as we celebrate his life from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at 299 W. Eighth Ave., Marion, Iowa. A tribute and prayer will take place at 2 p.m.
