He was stationed at Camp LeJeune and in Okinawa for a year. Dave was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, owned Heartland Auto in Marion, was associated with The Village Green Driving Range and was a Real Estate Investor.
Dave married Chris Hennessey on February 21, 1981, in Cedar Rapids and they had three sons.
Dave loved riding his Harley motorcycles, restoring and driving his 1938 Ford Coupe which he had owned for 40 years, and his John Deere tractors. He enjoyed finding morel mushrooms, hunting and playing poker at the casino. Dave loved spending time with his family and getting together to play cards and board games. Dave really enjoyed when the family got together in Galena in February and in Clear Lake in the summer for a day of boating and tubing. Dave was the captain of the pontoon boat. Several years ago, Dave and Chris relocated to Henderson, Nevada to get out of the cold weather of Iowa. They met and have many close friends there. They were back in Cedar Rapids every summer and also for other special occasions to be with family and friends. They returned to Cedar Rapids recently due to Dave's illness.
