David Ellis Dyrland, 74, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away peacefully and was joyfully united with his LORD and heavenly family on Monday, November 4, 2024. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with a visitation taking place one hour prior to the service.
David was born June 10, 1950, to Lester and Opal (Hodge) Dyrland in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After high school, he briefly attended Coe College and later went into the electrical trade, becoming a member of the IBEW Local #405. He married Terri Stoltenberg on June 28, 1975.
He enjoyed being the “Voice of the J-Hawks” for many years, announcing many sporting events and talent shows. But, his greatest joy was always following his children and his grandchildren throughout their many school activities and performances.
David is survived by his loving wife, Terri Dyrland; children, Emi (Kenny) Balk, Jonathan (Meegan) Dyrland, Daniel (Megan) Dyrland; grandchildren, Kennedy (Aaron) Nibaur and Olivia Chapman, Jordan Balk, Austin (Madison) Balk, Megan Balk, Elliott, Alana, and Zachariah Dyrland, Allie, Aaron, and Abram Dyrland; brothers-in-law Mark (Annette) Stoltenberg, and Brad (Vicki) Stoltenberg; and his beloved dog, Rigley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Terry.
The family would like to thank the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House for the love and care provided to David.
