David E. Carter, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Gathering of Family and Friends: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at the Stewart Baxter Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Private Family Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
David E. Carter was born on Dec. 6, 1935, to Delmar J. and Opal (Ellis) Carter. He married Sylvia Ann Svaldi in the Danforth Chapel on the University of Iowa Campus in 1956.
Dave is survived by his children, Grant Carter of Cedar Rapids and Neal Carter of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Amber Carter and Curtis (Alexa) Winsor of Virginia; great-grandchildren, Ayden Vaughn, Alena Harris, Theodore Winsor and Andersen Underwood; sister, Jenni Fauchier.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son, Blair Carter.
The family of Dave would like to thank the doctors and staff at Mercy Medical Center and Iowa Eye Center for their extraordinary care and compassion over the past few months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mercy Medical Center Foundation in Dave’s name.
