DAVID "DAVE" ALLEN HUBBELL
Cedar Rapids
David "Dave" Allen Hubbell, 62, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully in his home Monday, May 21, 2018, from complications of Lewy body dementia. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.
Born Oct. 2, 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa, he was the oldest son of Glenn and Beverly (Johnson) Hubbell. With his father in the U.S. Air Force, he spent his childhood in both Texas and Iowa. In September 1979, he began what would be a 25-year career at General Mills driving a forklift and working in the warehouse.
Dave loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and owned several throughout his life. He was a lover of martial arts and achieved the level of brown belt in tae kwon do. His other interests included tinkering on computers, watching professional wrestling, NASCAR, sci-fi and DC/Marvel movies and shows, and listening to oldies and classic rock music. And as a true Iowan, he was an avid Hawkeye fan!
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Gloria (Grimm) Hubbell; his daughters, Stephanie (William) Mason and Shannon "Shay" Hubbell; his grandchildren, Lauren Mason and Liam Mason; his brother, Michael "Mike" (Judy) Hubbell; and his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cat, Smudge, who was both his buddy and protector.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at the Five Seasons Mobile Home Court Club House.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made directly to the family.
