David “Dave” Butler, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 at the chapel. Per his wishes, Dave will be cremated. A private family inurnment will be at Beaman Cemetery.
Dave was born on April 23, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa. On May 4, 2002, Dave married Dena Sleeth at the Little Brown Church. Dave and Dena have resided in Cedar Rapids for many years. Dave was the proud owner and operator of American Investigations and Security Agency since 1981.
Surviving family members included his wife, Dena; sons, Tom (Jenny) and David (Jill); grandchildren, Jacob, Kaitlyn and David; and a great-grandchild, William.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Butler and Laura (McFarland) Brown; and his daily companions (dogs), Lucky and Buck.
Thank you to the family of friends that took care of Dave and allowed him to remain in the comfort of his home. Those family of friends include Pat, Linda, Rita, Nadine, Jenny and Kevin. Also, a sincere thank you to Palliative Care and Hospice of Mercy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
