DAVID ALLEN CALVERT

David Allen Calvert, 70, of Victor, passed away on Sept. 4, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor with Pastor Jim Davis, Victor United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Methodist Cemetery south of Victor.
Memorial contributions may be designated to the David Calvert Memorial Fund.
David was born on Feb. 7, 1948, in Sigourney, the son of Oliver John and Helen Secor Calvert. He was raised in the Victor area and attended school in Ladora, and later was a 1966 graduate of HLV High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
David farmed for many years with his father near Victor. After the death of his parents, he moved to the senior housing units in Victor in 2009.
Every year since 1972, he enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair and held an interest in all the exhibits. He also enjoyed attending the Old Threshers Reunion in Mount Pleasant. He was a member of the Victor American Legion.
Survivors include his brother, Daniel (Frances) Calvert of Marion; and several other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
