David Paul Boland, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, after a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation: one hour before the service. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; his brother, John (Joleen) Boland of the Quad Cities; grandson, David Eugene; nieces and nephew, Emily, Christopher and Sarah; and special friend, Denny Thomas.
David was born to Raymond Edward and Evelyn Marie (Pesek) Boland, on Jan. 28, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. His passion for music led him to a master's of arts from the University of Iowa. Dave strove to inspire young minds in the Denver Community Schools through his music instruction. He was a very active duplicate bridge player and loved playing poker at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort. Each year there was a trip to Timber Trails Resort on Big Boy Lake in Minnesota for fishing and time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Richard.
