David C. Baburek Sr., 73,
of Marion, passed with his family by his side on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Unity Point Health Care Facility. Memorial services at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dave was born on Oct. 28, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Leo and Kathryne Severson Baburek. He worked for the city of Marion and retired from there after more than 24 years of service. Prior to that he worked for the city of Cedar Rapids and drove a milk truck for many years. On Jan. 15, 1967, Dave married Kathleen Wieneke. To this union three children were born. They later divorced. In March 1976, he married Janet Kray. To this union, he had one daughter and two stepchildren, Scott and Laura Andresen. They later divorced.
Dave was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching NASCAR. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He really enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his entire family. He was the most caring and kindest person that you could ever meet and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He also enjoyed being quite the jokester and prankster.
Survivors include a son, David Jr., and his wife, Kristy, of Belle Plaine; daughters, Dawn (Bill) Reeves, Ginger McNamara and Jenni Baburek of Marion; grandchildren, Nicole Prichard of Belle Plaine, Jake Reeves of Naples, Fla., Samantha Connell (Tyler) of Cedar Rapids, Loni Reeves of Plattsmouth, Neb., Logan Baburek (Julie) of Marion, Austin James (Majestic) of Marion, Chance Baburek of Belle Plaine, Brooklin McNamara of Marion, Damon McNamara of Marion, and Memphis McNamara of Marion; three great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Jeff (Brandi) Mastain.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ronald.
