David B. Hallock, 90, passed away at The Views of Marion, Iowa, on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held
at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with the Pastor Sherrie Ilg officiating. A livestream of the service will be available on the Cedar Memorial website under the obituary for David under the video tab starting at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3. Interment will follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Lakeview.
David was born on April 8, 1931, in Chicago, Ill. He was the son of the late Leslie and Marian (Brown) Hallock. On Dec. 22, 1956, David married the love of his life, Karen Andersen. David graduated with a master's degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. After college, he started working as an engineer at Collins Radio. At Collins, David excelled at his work, designing radios for the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Space Missions. He was named Rockwell International Engineer of the Year in 1984. He was a member of the Cedar Valley Amateur Radio Club with the call letters W0SS. David was able to fix anything. He loved all animals and having meals with his family and friends. David and Karen did a lot of traveling together in retirement, which they both enjoyed.
Those left to cherish David's memory are his children, Susan Hallock, of Marion, Iowa, Alan (Jeannine) Hallock of Marion, Iowa, Gail (Tony) Polashek, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Eric (Gaby) Hallock, of Guatemala City, Guatemala; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Karen; and their infant daughter, Jennifer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at The Views in Marion for the love and support they showed David, while he was in their care.
