David Ernest Ashbacher, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, from natural causes. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Dunkard Cemetery, Midway. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
David was born March 23, 1938, in rural Johnson County, the son of Carl and Clara Louise (Simmen) Ashbacher. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. David worked for many years in landscaping.
David is survived by his siblings, Rudy (Paula) Ashbacher, Rose McMurrin, Alice (Merlyn) Morris, Barb Lathrop and Virginia (Denny) Durbin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anna Frondle.
