David Mason Arthur Jr., 69, of Coralville, formerly of Lisbon, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Mercy Hospice, Iowa City. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Friday, July 15, at North Liberty United Methodist Church, 85 N. Jones Blvd., where visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Pastor David Nolte will officiate.
Survivors include his wife, Diane (Palle) Arthur; children, Amy Cornell and husband CJ, Anthony Arthur and Megan Coleman and husband Jamison; sister, Bonita Arthur; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Naomi Arthur; and his first wife, Donna Mae (Curnow) Arthur.
David was born April 15, 1947, in Somerville, N.J., to David and Naomi (Squier) Arthur. He graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1964. After high school, he attended heavy equipment training before serving in the Army in the 591st Engineers Company. He served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968.
David was an over-the-road truck driver for more than 30 years. He began driving in 1968 for Loft Seed Co. in New Jersey. He became an owner-operator, driving for various companies, before retiring in 2001 from Heartland Express.
David enjoyed his work, hunting and fishing, but most of all, spending time with his family.
