David Allen Holub "Army Dave," 59, beloved father, grandfather, brother and son, passed away Dec. 11, 2020, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
David was born in Iowa to Kenneth and Faynet Holub. He was a proud Army veteran, where he served in Desert Storm and received several metals such as National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with third Bronze Service Star, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Good Vonduct Medal and Sharpshooter Badge.
David was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4077 in Anamosa, Iowa, where he enjoyed volunteering and talking with other veterans. He enjoyed fishing, wood whittling and spending time with family.
David was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents and two cousins.
He leaves behind by three sons, David Holub Jr., Clay Holub and Brett Holub; his father, Kenneth Holub; two sisters, Debra Henson and Donna Noggle; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He had many friends and never knew a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all.
A small service with full military honors will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 18. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in 2021.
