David Allen "D.J." Jacobson, 64, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, at his home after battling Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Stewart Baxter Funeral and Memorial Services in Cedar Rapids.
David was born Feb. 12, 1958, to James and Gerayn (Gerri) Jacobson in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1976. David married the love of his life, Cynthia (Cindy) Yoder on June 26, 1993.
Dave was an Eagle Scout with Troop 33 and also earned a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was employed by Cherry Burrell (Evergreen) as a machinist for nearly 30 years. He also drove over the road trucking with Cindy for around 12 years. Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, riding his Harley-Davidson and driving his wife’s BMW Z4. Dave and Cindy liked to travel and go antiquing. He collected antique knives, fishing lures and razors.
We were blessed to have Dave in our lives and he will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his mother, Gerri; sisters, Julie (Steve) Jilovec of Mount Vernon and Connie (Bob) VanWinkle of Fairfax; brother, Dean (Sue) Jacobson of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud.
David was preceded in death by his father, Jim; father and mother-in-law, Keith and Judith Yoder; several aunts and uncles and his beloved trucking cat, Smokey Bear.
A grateful and heartfelt thank you to Mr. Bill for his many visits, Marilyn for assisting in his care and the wonderful St. Luke’s Hospice Team.
Family and friends may offer support and memories with David’s family on his tribute wall at www.stewartbaxter.com under obituaries.
Condolences can be sent in lieu of flowers to Cynthia Jacobson, P.O. Box 9936, Cedar Rapids IA 52409.
