David Alan Irvin, 58, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. A visitation will be held from 1 - 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Private entombment will be held at the Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum in Cedar Rapids at a later date.
David was born October 5, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, the son of David E. and Evelyn (McGowan) Irvin. He graduated from Jefferson High School. David held various roles throughout his career, starting at Pizza Hut, managing True Value Hardware, owning Sensible Solutions and then continued doing maintenance for Heritage Property Management in Cedar Rapids. He was a proud supporter of the Jefferson J-Hawks. Known for his gift of conversation and remarkable memory for names, David had a way of making everyone feel valued. He loved cooking, going out, and always went out of his way to help others in any way he could.
Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Kevin Grendler; two nephews, Brandon Halstead (Kelsey Mathews) and Joseph Dean (Kelda Hankins); great-nephew, Wyatt Mathews; stepmother, Mildred Yoelker; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
We are sincerely thankful for the heartfelt care and friendship shown by everyone at the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center.
