Davey, Frank A.
Frank A. Davey, 62, of Springville, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away March 14, 2011. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Bev; his children, Ann Davey of Cedar Rapids and Tyler Davey of Pasadena, Calif.; brother, Ron Davey of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; an aunt, Laverne Miller of Burlington; as well as cousins and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Richard; and several close friends.
Frank Arthur Davey was born May 7, 1948, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Robert and Frances (Miller) Davey. He attended high school in Meadville, Mo., and later graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State), where he received his baccalaureate degree, was awarded the IB McGladrey award, and was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. He served in the Iowa National Guard for several years.
He was united in marriage to Beverly Roe on Aug. 19, 1972, in Burlington, Iowa. Throughout their marriage they were blessed with two children, Ann and Tyler. They enjoyed numerous trips together that included camping, hiking, and many outdoor activities. He was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees and Iowa Hawkeyes, and enjoyed college basketball.
Frank was a partner at McGladrey & Pullen and worked as a Certified Public Accountant for many years in the Cedar Rapids area. He was a member of several organizations and boards that included membership in the Optimist Club where he served as past president and was the current co-president, served on the board of directors for the Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce, was a board member of the American Cancer Society, was a member of Elmcrest Country Club, where he served on the board and was past president, membership in the John Kirk Society at Truman State University, the YMCA and was active in The Way International. Through Frank's various contributions to the community he will always be remembered for his kind and giving heart.
Above all, Frank was a devoted husband and loving father who enjoyed time spent with his family, friends and his beloved dog Penny. Frank and Bev always looked forward to the next meeting with the Odd Couple Dinner Group.
A memorial fund has been established in Frank's name.
