Daugherty, Merle H.

Merle H. Daugherty, 74, of Vinton, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Larry Rodgers and Chaplain Joe Kane. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille; his three children, Theresa, Lenard and Troy; seven stepchildren; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters.

Merle was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Born May 2, 1938, in Normal, Ill., Merle was the son of Lenard and Edna (Wells) Daugherty. On May 2, 1977, Merle was united in marriage to Lucille Kannenberg in Pocatello, Idaho. He was a drywall contractor for many years in the Cedar Rapids area.

The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to Dr. Nabi and her staff and the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for the care they gave Merle.

Memorials may be directed to the Oak Grove Church in Shellsburg or the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
