Darwin 'Jim' Bell
DARWIN "JIM" BELL
Cedar Rapids
Darwin "Jim" Bell, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully from this life on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021 at Mercy Hospital. Services: 3 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home. Due to concerns over the novel coronavirus, family members and friends are encouraged to wear a mask to any funeral event.
Jim was born on Dec. 8, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Darwin and Kathryn Barger Bell. He married Jean Buresh in 1967 and they had two wonderful sons.
Jim worked at Harnischfeger for many years until they sold to PPM Cranes. He moved at that time to PPM as a Field Service Representative and was there until his retirement in 1994. Jim's love of autos carried over to retirement, where he always had a vehicle of some sort to work on. He also enjoyed the volunteer work he did at his parish of St. Patrick's.
Jim was blessed with a great sense of humor, which resulted in many friendships that have lasted a lifetime. He loved a good joke and always had one to share with everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; sons, Christopher (Michelle) of Camas, Wash., and Joe of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Karen and Debbie; and five grandchildren, Jimmy Joe, Tim, Rachel, Lauren and Nicole.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
