Darrow, Herman F.
Herman F. Darrow, 72, of Wapello, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at the Wapello Nursing and Care Center. Funeral services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at Solid Rock Baptist Church, Wapello, with Pastor Dan Doolin officiating. Interment: 11 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, with graveside military rites. There will be no visitation. Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello is in charge of arrangements.
The son of Leonard “Whitey” and Berdena (Brockhohn) Darrow, he was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Oxford Junction, Iowa. He married Mary Rennie in 1961; she died in 1994. He was a graduate of the Oxford Junction High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from graduating high school until 1976. He then worked at General Mills in Cedar Rapids from 1976-2007.
He is survived by one daughter, Susanne Rollinger of Wapello; two grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Balichek of Oxford Junction, Iowa; and a special companion, his chocolate Lab “Cooper.”
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A memorial has been established in his name.
