Darrow, Charlotte L.
Charlotte L. Darrow, 72, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at Mercy Hospice of Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hope United Methodist Church in Iowa City. There will be a time of visitation one hour before the services, and a reception following the services, all at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Charlotte's memory to Iowa City Hospice or Hope United Methodist Church.
Charlotte Luellen Mick was born Dec. 7, 1936, in Ottumwa, the daughter of J. Edward and Lucille (Freed) Mick. She was united in marriage to Daniel K. Darrow on Dec. 18, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. The couple moved to Iowa City where they made their home; here she cared for their family and worked for ACT over 22 years before retiring in 1991.
Her family includes her children, Douglas (Pam) Darrow of Oxford, Diane (Rev. Allen) Coffin of Iowa City, Charles “Chuck” (Sarah) Darrow of North Liberty, and Patrick (Penny) Darrow of Westmoreland, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Justin Wade, Lael (Kevin) Neal, Landon (Tessa) Wade, Dylan (Katie) Wade, Kayla Darrow, Karisa Darrow, Nathaniel Coffin, Kaitlyn Coffin and Morgan Shock; four great-grandchildren, Natalie, Faye, Hayden and Kyler; brothers, Jerry (Ruth) Mick of Hiawatha, Gene Mick of Cedar Rapids, Jon (Phyllis) Mick of Shellsburg, Bob (Judy) Mick of Cedar Rapids and David (Margie) Mick of Shellsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and grandson.
Charlotte's family would like to thank all the staff of Mercy 5N, Iowa City Hospice, and Holden Cancer Center for all their loving care of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
