Darris William Pickering, 72, of Van Horne, passed away Sept. 18, 2016, from a tragic accident. Visitation with viewing will be held at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. On Sunday at 2 p.m. there will be a brief service with a Celebration of Life to follow at the Keystone Turner Hall. The casket will not be present at the Turner Hall. Private committal services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Newhall.
A memorial fund has been established.
He is survived by the "love of his life." Lisa Pickering; his daughter, Lisa (David) Loebker of Cincinnati, Ohio; his son, Devin (Michelle Phillips) of Keystone; stepson, Travis Suchomel of Van Horne; stepdaughter, Amanda (Miles) Hutton of Van Horne; sister, Reta Westercamp of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Colter Pickering, Lenora Loebker, Zoey and Ian Hutton, Kailey, Toby and Mary Phillips; nephews, Kirk Abernathy (wife Shelly and children KJ and Dani Jo) and Bruce Abernathy; as well as his extended Shady Acres family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ivadel Pickering; and brother-in-law, Robert Westercamp.
