Darrel T. Coleman, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 25, 2023.
Darrel was born July 30, 1932, in Toddville, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Mildred (Swallom) Coleman. He married Shirley Reid on June 19, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and they enjoyed 67 wonderful years together. Darrel served in the Navy during the Korean War and worked at Quaker Oats for 44 years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed auctions, fishing, video poker and spending time with family. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Darrel is survived by wife, Shirley; son, Rick (Cathy) Coleman of North Liberty; grandchildren, Amanda Coleman of Cedar Rapids, Travis (Cassie) Coleman of South Jordan, Utah, and Keith (Whitney) Coleman of Thornton, Colo.; sister, Betty Sproston; and the family dog, Dexter.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents and son, Doug Coleman.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 3, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Private burial at Cedar Memorial Park will take place at a later date.
