Darrel Malone, 53, of Olin, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015. A memorial service celebrating Darrel's life will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the Hale Supper Club in Hale. Darrel's memorial service will be led by the Rev. Dick Thomas of Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids. There will be no visitation per Darrel's wishes. The family is honoring Darrel's wishes to have his ashes spread throughout the area by the boat dock on Jungletown Road at a later date.
The family requests all family and friends who attend to please dress very warm and casual.
Darrel William Malone was born June 26, 1961, in Wichita, Kan., to Harley (Bill) and Glenna Malone. He graduated from Olin High School in May 1979. He served his country in the United States Air Force and the returned to the Olin area, where he began a career as a plumber. He was united in marriage on May 18, 2002, to Carrie Johnson.
Darrel is survived by his wife, Carrie; his daughter, Christina Johnson (Larry Thomas); granddaughter, Jadeyn (his little Peanut); grandson, Greyson (his little Monkey); his mother, Glenna Malone (Jim Sanders); his sister, Debbi (Wendell) Crawford of West Chester, Ohio; and nieces, Lezley-Ann Crawford of Dallas, Texas, and Crystal Malone of Kansas City, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harley (Bill); his brothers, David and Douglas; his niece, Lisa Marie Malone; and grandparents, Alvis Frazier, Peter and Odessa Grant and Harley and Mary Malone Sr.
