Darlyne Della Glinsmann, 86, died at her home in Luzerne on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walford with Pastor Travis Borkosky officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. A second service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Loup City, Neb., with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Ashton, Neb.
Darlyne was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Grand Forks, N.D., the daughter of Walter William John and Regina Fredericka Stauss Austin.
On Aug. 27, 1951, Darlyne was united in marriage with Ervin Erich Glinsmann in Kalispell, Mont. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2008.
Darlyne worked as a circuit breaker calibrator at Square D in Cedar Rapids for 30 years, retiring in 1991.
Darlyne was currently a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walford. Her previous church homes included St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Luzerne and Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown.
Darlyne enjoyed reading and all children, particularly her grandchildren.
Darlyne is survived by one son, Dwight (Kim Doonan) Glinsmann of Luzerne; three daughters, Polly Lowder of Burnsville, Minn., Deb (Dennis) Beck of Le Grand and Jackie (Rick) Rupp of Luzerne; three sisters, Lambie (Ray) Austin of Bemidji, Minn., Virginia Austin of Grand Forks, N.D., and Paulette (Bill) Holman of Albertville, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Jessie (Jeff) McCarty, Nicolle (Mike) Ray, Heath Beck, Erich Hinschberger, Ike (Bethany) Glinsmann, Peter Glinsmann and Ryan Rupp; and five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Samantha, Gabrielle, Emma and Ellie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; eight sisters, Elaine Altermatt, Dorothy Davidson, Carol Kleinsasser, Betty Sherlock, Rosie Huebner, Violet Talley, Sally Hoeschen and JoAnn Driscoll; and a son-in-law, Richard Lowder.
A memorial fund has been established. Checks made payable to the Darlyne Glinsmann Memorial Fund may be sent in care of Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, 1212 First Ave., Vinton, IA 52349.
