DARLENE WEISS Victor Darlene Weiss, 84, of Brooklyn, formerly of Victor, passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Brooklyn Community Estates. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. John's Lutheran Church south of Victor. Family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. before the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 485, Victor, IA 52347. Darlene was born on Aug. 29, 1931, to Clarence and Viola Floerchinger Weiss, near Guernsey, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Deep River High School with the class of 1949. Darlene worked for the Tanger Outlet Mall near Williamsburg. She enjoyed traveling, working in her garden, baking and cooking for family gatherings and was an accomplished seamstress. Those left in her honor include two brothers, Donald (Eloise) Weiss of Cedar Rapids and Maynard (Lois) Weiss of Victor; two sisters, Jane (David) Rinderknecht of Wyckoff, N.J., and Joan (Roger) Sanders of Des Moines; nieces, Beverly (Mark) Roberts of Chandler, Ariz., and Kimberly (Steve) Miklandric of Chesterfield Va.; nephews, Craig Weiss of Victor, Jim (Kelly) Weiss of Ballwin, Mo., Steve (Lisa) Sanders of Des Moines, Jerry (Melissa) Sanders of Des Moines and Mike (Michelle) Rinderknecht of Wyckoff, N.J.; 15 great-nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and niece, Pam (Weiss) Martin.
