Darlene Revell Sperring Becker, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at her home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where friends may call after 11: a.m. Friday. The Rev. Michael Metz will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Becker; her brother, Richard Sperring; her two daughters, Joan Johnson and Linda Stewart; grandchildren, Tommy Johnson, Ann Middleton and John Stewart; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Middleton and Nathan Middleton.
Darlene was born Darlene Sperring on Sept. 25, 1934, to Helen and Earl Sperring. Darlene married her husband on Dec. 14, 1963. In 1977, Darlene and family moved to Cincinnati, where she lived until death.
During her lifetime, Darlene raised two kids and worked several jobs, including working for the city of Cedar Rapids as an executive assistant, and for Springdale Family Medicine as the office manager. After her retirement, Darlene had many happy years traveling with her husband. She joyfully spent time knitting baby hats for the Good Samaritan Hospital and helping in any way she could with her grandkids. Darlene was a 50-year member of the Iowa Order of Eastern Star Chapter 184 and a member of the Forest Park Women's Club.
