Darlene Mae Konicek, 89, formerly of Clutier, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chelsea, with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine. Visitation will continue one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at National Cemetery in Vining.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Darlene was born Sept. 1, 1926, to Emil and Mary (Zeman) Yilek at the family farm near Elberon. She attended country school; following school Darlene married George Konicek Jr. on April 10, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived on the family farm. Darlene worked as a meter reader for REC and at Pioneer. She also helped George on the farm.
Darlene enjoyed being outdoors mowing and gardening, along with shopping and going out to eat.
She was a member of Tama Eagle Club, Clutier American Legion Auxiliary and Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Connie (Al) Weaver of Tama; siblings, Duane (Carol) Yilek of Garwin, Imogene Taylor of Belle Plaine and Gladys Maule of Toledo; grandchildren, Mike Polka Jr. and Mindy (Jason) Frazier, both of Memphis, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Buffington and Murray Polka of Memphis, Tenn.; along with many more loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; and siblings, Vernon Yilek, Emil Yilek, Vivian Karkosh and Evelyn Konicek.
