Darlene M. Humphrey, 92, of Arlington, died with her family at her side on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 7, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Jan (Russ) Breitsprecher, in Arlington. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Arlington United Methodist Church with Pastor Jane Voigts officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour before the service Monday at the church. Interment: Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.
Memorials may be made to Arlington United Methodist Women, Arlington EMTs or Palmer Hospice.

Darlene Marie Taylor was born July 29, 1924, in Cuthbert, S.D., the daughter of Harry Edward Taylor Sr. and Lucille Dorlesca (Gibbs) Taylor. She graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1941 and Upper Iowa University in Fayette in 1972 with a bachelor of arts degree. Darlene was united in marriage to Daryl LeRoy Humphrey on May 28, 1943, at the Methodist Parsonage in Arlington. Darlene taught for two years at Putnam Center and Heath School and she then taught elementary school at Starmont Schools for 21 years, retiring in 1986. Daryl and Darlene farmed for many years before retiring to Arlington in 1998.
Darlene was a member of Arlington United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Arlington American Legion Auxiliary and Mountain Dewers Camping Club.
Left to cherish Darlene's memory are her two daughters, Jan (Russ) Breitsprecher of Arlington and Myrna (Francis) Krivanek of Ely; son-in-law, Lee Wescott (Linda Schmitt) of Arlington; five grandchildren, Brad, Andy, Sarah, Allison and Matt; seven great-grandchildren, Abby, Sam, Maddie, Kate, Macey, Ella and Logan; three sisters-in-law, Eunice Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Marie Taylor of Strawberry Point and Jean Taylor of Independence; and a special friend, John Phillips of Wadena.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daryl, on Nov. 11, 2006; daughter, Dee Wescott, on July 27, 2014; and four brothers, Howard, Gerald, Harry Jr. and Duane.
