Darlene Connor
DARLENE CONNOR
Central City
Darlene K. (Morse) Connor was called to God for her eternal adventure on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014. She was surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of
service will be held at United Church Of Christ, 38 Fifth St. N, Central City, IA 52214 on Oct. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Darlene was born Oct. 23, 1936, to Alfred and Grace (Chapman) Morse in Iowa City. Darlene was married to Andrew John Connor on Dec. 3, 1958. They had two children, Cynthia Faith Connor and Laura Elizabeth Connor.
Darlene was a stay-at-home mother until she went to work at Rockwell Collins. Darlene's true calling was being an in-home care provider to those with Alzheimer's disease for many years until she retired.
After retirement, she set out to be the best grandmother to her four grandchildren: Kiley, Alissa, Timothy and Katie. She was blessed with her great-grandchildren, Lilleah and Emmy, with whom she loved with all her heart, and they gave her such joy. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gambling with her best friend, Diane, celebrating her Irish heritage, attending church services, playing cards and shopping.
Darlene was a very unselfish soul and would provide even strangers with things they needed. She always put her family, friends, and anyone in front of her very own needs.
Darlene is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Connor and Laura Connor; her four grandchildren, Kiley (Bryce) Connor, Alissa (Adam) Connor, Timothy Connor and Katie (Brian) Opperman; her great-grandchildren, Lilleah and Emmy; her sister-in-law, Luella Morse; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Grace; former husband, Andrew John Connor; brothers, Ralph and John Morse; sister, Velma (Dick) Rosendahl; and sister in-law, Pat Morse.
