Darlene Catherine Goddard, 95, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, of complications related to COVID-19.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at St. Thomas More Church, 3000 12th Ave., Coralville.
Friends may view the Mass by way of a Zoom link,
which may be found on Darlene's obituary page at www.lensingfuneral.com. Entombment will follow at
the Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Attendees will be required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Thank you.
Darlene was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Ashton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Pauline (Sieve) Schoo. On Oct. 13, 1956, Darlene married Clayton Goddard. They moved to the Iowa City area in 1957.
Darlene was employed for 27 years at Oral B Laboratories, retiring in 1987.
Darlene was a member of St. Thomas More Church. She was a proud grandma and great-grandma.
Darlene is survived by her children, Paula Spray of Coralville, John (Joni) Goddard and Kenneth (Laura) Goddard, both of Iowa City, and Fred (Mary) Goddard of Doylestown, Pa.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Joan Johannes of Sibley, Phyllis Honkomp of Ashton, Rosalie (Roger) Honkomp of St. Paul, Minn., Leon (Arlene) Schoo of Bode, Leo Schoo of Eagle Grove, Marilyn (Robert) Mulhern of Milford and Carolyn (James) Lechtenberg of LeMars; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2006; her son, James, in Decemember 2020; siblings, Noel and wife, Lavina, Margelene and husband, Al Youngers, and Rosemary and Sarah, in infancy; brothers-in-law, Laurence Johannes and Charles Honkomp; and sister-in-law, Connie Schoo.
