Danny Lee Dwyer, 49, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Dec. 20, 2014, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Word of God Lutheran
Church of the Deaf, 1515 29th St. NE, Cedar Rapids. Pastor Tim Eckert will officiate the service. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Danny Lee Dwyer was born Jan. 27, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Danny had many struggles in life, especially with his health, after being diagnosed with diabetes in his early 20s. He graduated from the School of the Deaf in Council Bluffs. Danny enjoyed fishing, camping and especially loved spending time with his friends and family.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his father, Tom Dwyer of Cedar Rapids; brother, Scott (Heather) Dwyer of Des Moines; two sisters, Nichole Peters of Iowa City and Monique Dwyer of Cedar Rapids; half brother, David Walters of Cedar Rapids; grandmother, Anna Dwyer of Cedar Rapids; an aunt, Corrine Ehlers of Lincoln, Calif.; uncle, Gary (Relda) Dwyer of Cedar Rapids; his special friend, Tracy Shepherd of Waterloo; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Danny was happily welcomed at the gates of heaven and will now share eternity with his heavenly family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine (White) Dwyer, and grandfather, John "Jack" Dwyer.
The family would like to thank all the special caregivers, nurses, doctors and social workers at County View Estates, Allen Hospital in Waterloo and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for the love, support and tender care given to Danny.
