Daniels, Robert C.
Robert C. Daniels, 78, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Mercy Hospital.
He was born Sept. 9, 1932, in rural Benton County to Claremont and Tessie (Cantwell) Daniels. He attended Van Horne Consolidated School through the 10th grade and then transferred to Loras Academy graduating in 1950.
He was inducted into the Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. Robert married Pat Fletcher on Sept. 28, 1957, in Muscatine, Iowa. After retiring from farming, he cared for a number of local cemeteries.
He served as a member of the Elberon Fire and Rescue Department and was a member of the Elberon American Legion Post 226. He was also a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Michael; daughter, Diane (Jon) Pilarski; and grandson, Nicholas Pilarski.
Other survivors include sister-in-law, Janet Nagel; niece, Lisa (Bill) Tuckett; nephews, Father Kurt Nagel, Reed (Jackie) Nagel and children, Katie and Sam; and Scott (Karin) Nagel and children, Nickolas and Nathan; and numerous cousins.
There will be no visitation. The family requests no flowers, but a memorial has been established.
