Dan was born June 2, 1945, in Swea City, Iowa, to Lee

He worked for the telephone company for 32 years as a switching systems technician and 12 years at Rabe Hardware Inc., retiring in 2012. Dan served 28 years as a volunteer firefighter.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sue; his three daughters, Paula Tysinger (Jeremy) of Rio Rancho, N.M., Erika Rabe (Jason) of Blairstown, Iowa, and Danielle Smith (Jeff) of Marengo, Iowa; and his five grandchildren, Kaleb and Samantha Rabe and Caleigh, Taylor and Jaden Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Reginald.
Dan enjoyed the outdoors. He spent the majority of his time fishing, especially trolling for walleye, and enjoyed pheasant and duck hunting. He loved watching his grandchildren participate in sports and other family activities.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Compass Memorial Healthcare (MMH) and St. Luke's ICU for the kind and dedicated care they provided to Dan.
