Daniel Richard Loutsch, 58, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at the Hospice House of Mercy following a recent diagnosis of cancer.
Dan was born May 26, 1959, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Elaine Loutsch of Cedar Rapids and Jim Loutsch of Akron, Iowa. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from LaSalle High School, Kirkwood Community College, Mount Mercy College, and attended graduate school at UNI. He was a longtime employee of Hardees and, in recent years, was the primary caregiver for his mother. He was a dedicated son, loving brother and friend to many. Also, he was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes.
He is survived by his parents; siblings, Stephen Loutsch (Shirley Johnson), Diane Connelly, Frank Loutsch (Terri) and Nancy McKinley (Tim Shakespeare); and six nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Regina Patnode.
A gathering will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Teahen Funeral Home followed by a celebration of life at the Westside Lounge.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice House of Mercy.
Dan's family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of the Hospice House of Mercy for their excellent care and compassion.
