Daniel Lee Richmond, 80, formerly of South Sioux City, Neb., passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at an Aurelia, Iowa, care center.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Those wishing to join virtually may do so by following this link: https://youtu.be/-e_uQJisBlI. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Dan was born Sept. 11, 1942, the son of James and Sarah Louise (Clark) Richmond. He grew up loving cars and was the owner of American Auto Sales in Denison, Iowa, wholesaled cars at Miller’s Auto in Omaha, Neb., and owned Richmond’s Auto Maxx in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Danny frequently traveled to multiple Mannheim Auto Auctions across the United States. No one was a stranger to Danny, he befriended so many people at the auctions near and far. Everyone looked forward to seeing his warm smile and loved his jokes. He always made a positive impression on anyone he crossed paths with throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones. Danny was a member of Iowa Automobile Dealer Association of Iowa for many years. Dan’s passions in life were making people laugh with his jokes, his work, his faith, and his grandchildren. He was musically gifted and able to play any instrument that he picked up.
Survivors include his children, Dawn (Rick) Misar of Hartford, S.D., Lisa Richmond-Kirby of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Rick (Jess) Kusel of Lemoyne, Neb.; grandchildren, Katie (Josh) Doohen of Sioux Falls, S.D., Matt Misar (Rheanon Larson) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Annie Misar of Salem, S.D., Kelsey Kirby of London, England, Emma Kirby of Missoula, Mont., Josie (Joel) Dill of Frederick, Colo., Jason (Lauren) Kusel of Windsor, Colo., Josh (Brittany) Kusel of Akron, Colo., and Luke (Mercedes) Richmond of Waverly, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Bella, Zoe, Renegade, Ozzie, Jax, Brya, August, Nolan, Trevor and Elise; sister, Connie Ellefson of Storm Lake, Iowa; nephew, Rob (Emily) Ellefson; niece, Sarah Graham; nephew, Phillip Graham; and sister-in-law, Cindy Graham.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, James Richmond; mother, Sarah Louise Graham; stepfather, Reverend Graydon Graham; son, Phillip Richmond; brothers, LeRoy and Terry Graham; sister, Janice K. Graham; and nephew, Ryon Ellefson.
