Daniel John McDonell, 50, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024. Services will be held at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, 1844 1st Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Wednesday, July 17 from 4-6:30 p.m., military honors at 4:45 p.m., and sharing of stories and memories at 5:00 p.m.
Dan is survived by his wife, Nikki Viesel-McDonell; parents, Kathy and John McDonell; his sister Crystal Schaldenbrand; nephew, Noam Schaldenbrand; and his two loving dogs and cat, Riley, Roxy and Felix.
Dan was born on March 26, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduated from Linn-Mar High School as well as from ITT, San Antonio and Colorado Technical University. Dan served in the army, stationed in Bitburg, Germany. At the time of his passing, he worked as Director of Marketing Operations at Verticurl.
In lieu of flowers, donations are directed to the Glioblastoma Foundation. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items which will be donated to a local food pantry to honor Dan’s commitment to helping people and serving his community. Wearing happy colors is encouraged!
