Daniel F. Drees, 65, of Manchester, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at his home in Manchester.
He was born Sept. 2, 1950, in Manchester, the son of Reynold and Marian (Voss Gienapp) Drees. Dan was raised and educated in the area, graduating from Manchester High School in 1968. He served honorably in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975.
On Aug. 25, 1973, Dan was united in marriage to Rosemary Keppler at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Four children were born to this union. Together they farmed east of Manchester, moving to town in 1994. Dan then worked as a custodian at St. Mary Catholic School and church and later drove a bus for West Delaware school district.
Dan was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
He will be remembered as one who enjoyed camping, fishing with his grandkids and playing cards. Dan especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Drees of Manchester; his four children, Danelle (Bryan) O'Connell of Manchester, Mike (Amy) Drees of Cresco, Jaci (Adam) Zieser of Manchester and Curt (Krista) Drees of Brandon; 13 grandchildren, Blake (Caryssa Philgreen), Bradley and Brooke O'Connell, Carter, Lucy, Emma and Reagan Drees, Gavin Drees, Lucas and Colton Zieser, Zachary, Abigail and Natalie Drees, and one more on the way; seven siblings, Carol Behnken of Marion, William (Roxie) Drees of Clarkson, Neb., Paula (Chuck) Zangerle of Manchester, Margaret (Merle) Nueton of Manchester, Larry Drees of Waverly, Robert Drees of Nebraska and Carl (Lori) Drees of West Des Moines; and his father-in-law, Jerry Keppler of Manchester.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Tirsa Drees; his mother-in-law, Verna Keppler; a brother-in-law, Bill Keppler; and his stepfather, William Oehler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, by the Rev. Joseph Schneider. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Friends also may call one hour before Mass Thursday at the church. Interment with military rites: St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
