Daniel “Dan” “Toad” Arenas, 82, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Gathering of Friends and Family will be from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Reception will follow at CJ’s Sports Bar & Grill, Cedar Rapids.
Dan was born November 19, 1942, in Nebraska, son to Jesse and Grace (Rodriguez) Arenas. He graduated from Regis High School in 1960 and enlisted into the United States Army until his honorable discharge.
Dan was known and liked by everyone. He loved to grill, listen to music, travel, play cards with family and friends, go to CJ’s bar on the weekends, and especially loved going to his grandkids’ events. He was also an avid 16-inch softball player since the 1970’s. He would compete on various teams in state and national championships and was inducted in the Cedar Rapids Softball Hall of Fame in 1999.
Toad is survived by his wife, Sheila Arenas; children, Daniel (Berni Blazek) Arenas Jr., and Christopher Arenas; grandchildren, Ricky Arenas and Mariano Arenas; siblings, Jody Beltram, Nancy Borkowski, David Fielder, and Lisa Fielder; special cousins, Leo Johnson Jr and Anthony Vasquez; dog, Coco; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Steve Fielder and John Fielder.
