DANIEL T. “DAN” BANE

Daniel T. "Dan" Bane died Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at the Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County. Dan's family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville. Instead of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous.
Born July 27, 1948, in Iowa City, the son of Newell and Naomi (Slater) Bane. Dan grew up in Iowa City and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1966. He married Barb Whatley on July 13, 1968, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City.
Dan worked for Climate Engineering in Cedar Rapids as a union sheet metal worker, Local 263, working for the union for 42 years.
Dan's biggest passion was classic cars, building and driving them, with Barb, to numerous events, excursions and road tours in all 48 states.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; son, Tom Bane (Molly Cashman Bane) of Iowa City; and daughte,r Renee Glaspie of Iowa City; grandchildren, Dakota Glaspie, Cheyenne Glaspie and Mia Bane; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Bird House for the compassionate care and support that they provided to both Dan and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
