Darrell was born Dec. 9, 1934, the youngest son of Vance Oral and Nellie Mae Buckman Dallege in Cedar County, Iowa. As a child he attended primary school at two small country schools and graduated from Tipton High School. Darrell married his high school sweetheart, Florence Eloise Regennitter on Aug. 22, 1954, at Rochester United Methodist Church, celebrating their 57th anniversary this fall. They spent the first six years of their marriage in Tipton, then together they raised their three children on the same farm that Darrell was born and raised, just a few miles south of town. Darrell spent his life perfecting his craft as a master carpenter, building many homes in the Tipton area, as well as other communities across the nation, from Phoenix to Chicago. He also lovingly worked the family farm. Darrell enjoyed working on and painting cars and old Harley motorcycles with his sons, playing basketball with his grandchildren and sneaking cookies to the family dog.
Darrell is dearly loved and survived by his wife, Florence Dallege of Tipton; daughter, Tamara Renae Dallege (Anthony Crawford) of Cedar Rapids; sons, Daniel Lee (Cinda) Dallege of Andrew, and Steven Douglas (Lynn) Dallege of Oxford Junction; six grandchildren, Cody (Coral) Dallege, Kit (Tegan) Dallege, Laci (Mike) Lee, Eli Foreman, Noah Foreman and Isaiah Foreman; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Lee and Wesley Simon; sisters, Francis Ahrens of Tipton, and Clara Eves of Tipton; brother, Harley Dallege (Delores) of Marion; sister-in law, Marilyn Fowler of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Nellie Dallege; in-laws, Ernest and Bertha Regennitter; sister, Edna; brothers, Lester, Leo and Floyd; sisters-in law, Ramona, Rosemary, Dorothy and Jeanetta; brothers-in-law, Eugene Eves, Wayne Ahrens, Warren Ahrens and Kenneth Fowler.
