DALE T. NOVAK
Cedar Rapids
Dale T. Novak, 60, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.
Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, followed by a service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at Brown Cemetery, near Colesburg, Iowa.
Dale was born Nov. 20, 1957, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Sylvester and Rosemary (Hala) Novak. He went to Jefferson High School and worked for the College Community School District as a custodian. Dale was a kind soul. He was very generous with his time and talents. Dale never met a stranger; his gift of gab made him friends wherever he went. Dale loved all of the simple pleasures in life, like drinking coffee, going out for breakfast and watching movies, especially his favorite, "The Ten Commandments." He was quite the handyman, especially at painting and remodeling. He had a knack for making people feel loved and cared for and that resonated when he spent time with his family and friends.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Riane Novak of Marion, Iowa; siblings, David (Andrea) Novak of Cedar Rapids, Dennis (Joyce) Novak of Fairfax, Iowa, Daniel (Marsha) Novak of Atkins, Iowa, Deborah (Michael) Geralds of Marion, Deann Eastin of Cedar Rapids, Delores Novak of Kansas City, Mo.; many nieces and nephews; family friend, Donna Boydston of Kansas City; great-niece, 'lil buddy' Lili Eastin; and his dogs, Patches and Taco.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Rosemary; beloved first wife, Diane (Moore) Novak; and their Pekingese dog, Peekers.
