Dale Bernard Scheidt, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 4, 2014, in Cedar Rapids.
Dale's wanderlust led him to live in places as diverse as Salina, Kan.; Seattle, Wash.; Anchorage, Alaska, and Tempe, Ariz.
Dale was a trucker, driving well over 3 million miles across America. He also worked construction, including working on the Alaska Pipeline.
He was very involved with a large extended family, providing his love and guidance to all seeking it.
Dale is survived by his wife, Nadine; siblings, Duke Scheidt of Abilene, Kan., and Nancy Walker of Phoenix; his children, Cherri (Joe) Lock, Carol Scheidt and Bret Scheidt; his grandchildren, Sabryna Scheidt, Bradley Lock, Richard Lock and Breah Scheidt; and treasured nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C.H. and Vera Scheidt; and his brother, Clarence Scheidt.
A private gathering is being held at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, April 8.
Memorials may be made to the MS Society, Alzheimer's Association, Habitat for Humanity or Four Oaks.
