Dale, Phyllis Darlene (Kunzman)
Phyllis Darlene (Kunzman) Dale, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at West Ridge Care Center following a courageous battle with dementia. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church, by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 4 until 7 p.m.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, John, of 57 years; daughters, Lynne (Jim) Siemann of SanDiego, Calif., and Karen (Jim) Lamb of Marion; sons, John (Michelle) Dale of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Jeffrey Dale of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jimmy, Tommy, Karen, Scotty, Joshua, Ryan, Lauren and Selah; and brother, Dr. James Kunzman of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Kunzman; sister, Joan Smith; nephew, John Smith; and father- and mother-in-law, William and Fern Dale.
Phyllis was born Dec. 8, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Ralph and Ethel Kunzman.Phyllis graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Coe College.She worked for Western Weighing Inspection, Link Belt and Iowa National Insurance Co. She married John Dale on Jan. 22, 1955, at St. Patrick Catholic Church.Phyllis was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Phyllis loved being a wife, mother and grandmother.She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, traveling, and loved to dance. Above all, Phyllis loved her family.
