Dale O'Brine, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at West Ridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Dale is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue of Cedar Rapids; son, Rod (Cathy) O'Brine of Lisbon; grandchildren, Holly (Justin) Fencl of Solon, Tracy (Chad) Flory of Mechanicsville and Pattrick O'Brine of Stanwood; stepgrandchildren, Mike (Kristi) Hotchkiss of Bloomington, Ill., and Andy (Sara) Hotchkiss of Thompsons Station, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Emma Fencl and Declan Flory; stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyler and Natalie Hotchkiss, Jacqueline and Lilly Hotchkiss; sister, Ruth (Bernard) Briles; brother-in-law, Clifford Kephart; and longtime friend, Don Tesar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin O'Brine; and sisters, Mary Kephart, Dorothy DeLong and Betty O'Brine.
Dale was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Clifford and Hattie O'Brine. He graduated from high school in Tucson, Ariz. Dale married Vernona "Sue" Juett on June 2, 1956, in Lisbon. They lived in Arizona before returning to Lisbon. Dale worked for Altorfer Inc. from 1957 until he retired after 44 years in 2001.
Dale enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, collecting keychains, woodworking, plastic canvas knitting and watching NASCAR. The couple also enjoyed family vacations.
Memorials may be directed to Eastern Iowa Alzheimer's Association or Lisbon United Methodist Church.
