Dale K. Johnson, 91, of Iowa City, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Lone Tree Health Care Center. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Lone Tree. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Lone Tree United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree Historical Society, Lone Tree United Presbyterian Church or Eastern Iowa Honor Flight in memory of Dale. Dale Keith Johnson was born on January 6, 1934, in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of George and Alvina Emma (Lenz) Johnson. He was a 1952 graduate of Lone Tree High School. Dale proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving 18 months in Germany. On August 5, 1956, Dale was united in marriage to Ardath Elaine Hunter in Iowa City. Dale worked for the United States Postal Service as the Supervisor of Mails retiring in 1990 and also farmed for many years for Bernie Prybil. He was a member of the Lone Tree United Presbyterian Church, Lone Tree Historical Society being a founding member, Johnson County Historical Society and River Junction Old Settlers. Dale enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, history, fishing, hunting and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
Dale will be deeply missed by his wife, Ardath of Iowa City; his children, LeAnne (Tim) Werner of St. Louis, Brian (Peggy) Johnson of Iowa City, Lori Johnson of Iowa City and Linda (Dion) Baylor of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Kaily (Josh) Hoard of Hills, Spenser (Jordan) Johnson of Iowa City, Nick Werner of St. Louis, Alyssa Werner of St. Louis and Jaden Baylor of Iowa City and three great-grandchildren, Payton Johnson, Cyrus Hoard and Declan Johnson.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Geraldine Watkinson and brother, Ardell Johnson.
