Dale J. Needham, 83, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and La Crosse, Wis., died on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at the Arbor Springs Nursing Home in West Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on Jan. 9, 1935, in Waukon, Iowa, to Bartley and Katherine (Sweeney) Needham Sr. Dale attended Waukon area schools and married Catherine Hall on Dec. 27, 1958, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church in La Crosse. Dale had worked at the Eastern Iowa Airport for 36 years until retiring. He also was involved in home development and the auto industry and just enjoyed staying busy.
He is survived by four nieces and nephews, Kay (Chuck) Gifford, Jim (Bev) Needham, Deb Broll and Mike (Bridget) Needham; and nieces and nephews on Catherine's side.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, in 2001; a brother, Bart; and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Peter Raj will officiate. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from noon until the time of services.
